From fear of domination by technology, to coöperating with technology

The continuous and exponential development of technology is leading to a higher degree of automisation, digitalisation and robotisation of our world of work and activities. At the beginning of this trend, there was consensus on the destructive aspect of this ‘irreversible’ development: jobs were expected to become redundant, since robots were going to take over our jobs and more and more people would be excluded from the labor market.  The turnaround in this way of thinking arose with the acceptance of technology into our daily lives, it was ‘here to stay’ and rather than being a competitor, technology is now considered an enabler of human evolution and progress. New ways of working together with technology are discovered everyday, meaning that every day, new applications for technological possibilities are discovered and new types of jobs are created at the benefit of people all over the world. People themselves are fueling the technological evolution. People are again in control and are actively creating the future of work.
